What is Podcasting and How to Get Involved!

Meetings Marcom 11.7 936x1024 What is Podcasting and How to Get Involved!

I’ve noticed that many people have been asking “what is podcasting“, along with many podcasting questions and so I thought i’d take a moment and explain what podcasting is and what Meetings Podcast does.

Podcasting is a form of audio and/or video broadcasting on the internet. A more detailed response from Wikipedia says “A podcast is a type of digital media consisting of an episodic series of audiovideo, PDF, or ePub files subscribed to and downloaded through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile device. The word is a neologism derived from “broadcast” and “pod” from the success of the iPod, as podcasts are often listened to on portable media players“. Meetings Podcast is here to talk to event planners, event managers, event attendees, Trade Show coordinators, Keynote speakers, etc. trying to get their thoughts on events and meetings!

Do you have a meeting or event coming up? iMex Event App is Updated!

With iMex America 2012 right around the corner, we’re curious if you’ve gotten the chance to download the Event App? This great up-and-coming piece of technology is great for, not only the event itself, but everything leading up to it! If you haven’t already, go to the Apple App store and download the “iMex America 2012″ app. Oh, and did we mention it’s FREE?!

image iMex Event App is Updated!

Once you have downloaded the app, it’s great to take a minute a play around with it. Get a good feel for the app before the event starts (that way you can focus on the events, seminars, and meetings while your there instead of playing around with all the features).

First your see the “All Events & Seminars” giving you the time, place, and general information of each event going on during the 3 days.

Next, you’ll find the “My Events & Seminars“, ” What’s On Now“, “My Schedule“, “Exhibitors“, “My Exhibitors”, and  ”Floor Plan“. These  are all a great way to keep yourself organized and on time (a huge plus for me, since I am one to get distracted very easily).

Follows those, you’ll see “iMex TV“,  this is connected to YouTube, where you can find many (if not all) great youtube clips from the event. A great way to look back after the day is over and see what you missed.

One of my favorite parts of this App is the “Social Media” section including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and i-Meet. This is something you can use from now, up til the event. A great way to connect with other going to the event, see what seminars people are going to, make plans to connect with people AT iMex, the list goes on and on.

Like I said, this is a must have app if you are attending iMex America 2012. We highly suggest taking a look of the 2 pages of great features in the Event App. Meetings Podcast has been doing shows with many insiders of iMex leading up to the show, we encourage each of you to check those out as well (don’t forget out Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn pages). If you are going to this event and want to meet up, let us know! We’d love to connect with you!

See you in VEGAS!!

Video idea for your next corporate meeting

I loved this video not only because I am from San Francisco but mostly because I have never seen the streets so empty…. Reminded me for some reason of an opening video we did at moscone withthe CEO running through San FRancisco doing all sorts of iconic areas until her strode into the general session….. Would have been cool if he was driving like this guy into the room though…The Go-Pro cameras really give you an opportunity to do some cool things with action.

It wassShot on the actual streets of San Francisco, California, GYM5 features a focus on fast, raw and precise driving action. Filmed over four days, director Ben Conrad and his team are back to work on their second Gymkhana production and delivered the entire city of San Francisco as Ken Block’s personal gymkhana playground. DC Shoes also provided fellow DC athlete and longtime Ken Block friend, Travis Pastrana, to make a cameo appearance on his dirtbike, and S.F. resident Jake Phelps of Thrasher Magazine fame also makes a cameo as Block hoons S.F. in his most incredible Gymkhana yet.

WebSite Story- Creative Mashup Fun

My friend and virtual emcee Emilie Barta turned me on to this clever Youtube video. My sister was in West Side Story and it made me think how fun corporate theatre can be to open meetings and conferences. This was just very well done and fun!

Engaging Conference Opening Video

A great way to start off your sales meeting is with a motivational video. Set the stage for a great conference with a wow video or animated graphics. The below video is a great example on how you can use corporate theater to enhance your meeting. Mixing the actor with the animation is visually amazing. How could you start to get your message across to your audience using video production?

Grass Shack has years of experience producing opening videos or opening modules for our clients. We can design videos, graphics and of course produce your whole meeting. The goal with this type of video production is to give experiences that help attendees feel engaged and inspired.

Could you see your CEO battling it out with an animation? How about visually showing the drug your company sells as an animated superhero? The options are endless and exciting!

Producing Effective Meetings Video: Bed Intruder

In my constant search to find ideas to keep corporate meetings engaging I was amazed at the cleverness of The Gregory Brothers. Corporate meeting ideas can come from anywhere so keep your eyes peeled for them.

When putting together videos for conferences or videos for meetings, we regularly are asked to come up with creative opening videos or fun videos for breaks. Watching The Gregory Brothers is inspirational for us.

They remix television newcasts making songs from the different stories. So in a nutshell  they make catchy songs and videos of newscasts.   The video included in this post is called “Bed Intruder”and the song is so popular it is running as one of the most popular songs of the regular music chats.  Amazing!

They currently have a deal with Comedy Central for a new pilot and if you are wondering what the star of “Bed Intruder” Antonie Dobson of Huntsville Alabama thinks- he gets 50% of all sales.  He of course wrote the words to the song!

For the last couple of years we have produced Restoration Hardware sales meeting videos and the CEO picks a opening song and rewrites the words to engage, educate to get the attendees fired up about the new catalog and items they are selling. These opening statement videos really set the tone  Looking at the way The Gregory Brothers remix these newscasts it opens up the doors of how you can be creative with opening videos, broadcast commercials and all your video production. So think about a great ice breaker for corporate meetings with the use of video.   Heck, you might even get on the Hot 100 Billboard charts!

Tell me a Story

Bathtub IV from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.

Came across this video and thought it was a wonderful explanation of what the rescue team does and a fantastic marketing piece. I think more companies should move to videos and real stories. Everyone loves a great story. How can you use story to explain your message?
