So the landscape is changing for learning, especially for the youth of the world. The generations coming up are now using more collaboration for learning. Instead of the old preach to teach such things as Wikipedia, and online intelligent discussions in large classes are being utilized. This helps so everyone even the shy kids can be part of the conversation. The new way of learning is not just regurgitating information through test taking but thinking, solving problems through searching and researching.
Dr. Monica Rankin has been using Twitter discussions in her class and even follows from a distance when she is not in class and comments back though Twitter.
Could this be incorporated into the three life bloods of corporate meeting content? Training, education and of course networking?
What do you think?
This little video camera player, Flip Video Mino is a great way to document, get event attendee reactions, and testimonials. You will be amazed by how easy this camera can be used. The top of the camera has a USB connector that just pops out and you can plug it straight into your camera. The software that comes with the camera gives you simple “Tom Hillmer proof” ways of capturing pictures from your videos and making simple movies with or without music. Check out theflp.com? Try Radian6
Was lining up an interview for Meetings Podcast with Radian6, a social media monitoring solution. I was trying to connect with the David Aslton VP of Marketing but Tom Hasselman an account manger with Radian6 offered to run me through the service online with Go-to-Meeting. I could see his computers desktop clearly through the service and he talked me through the features and benefits. I am totally fascinated on how Radian6 works and I can see how this is where we are headed with social media. Seeing who is talking about your brand and what good or bad conversations are happening and being able to pounce on both. In my opinion (mike mcallen) the implications of this type of monitoring service is going to eventually be a part of every companies marketing division. I look forward to talking with David on the podcast and learning more about Radian6. In the meantime I recommend heading over to Radian6 and talking to Tom Hasselman. Have him run you through a quick demo. www.radian6.com
Another step in this process is how you are going to respond to these online conversations:
Some things to think about when responding:
Talk to customers and commenters as Human beings it will get you a long way.
Always ask if anyone needs help and give it to them.
Figure out how you can help customers and commenters the best.
Flip negative comments and make that commenter a evangelist for you anyway you can.
The question has come up many times in recent months. “What web 2.0 tools can I use at my next event?” Adam Steinberg explains how EventVue has an online solution to get event attendees networking at events or meetings. [Read more...]

I attended Blogworld 08 this week in Las Vegas. One thing that still amazes me is the free online service Twitter and its uses at conventions. Now I know Blogworld is full of early adopters people who jump no leap on new technology so I am not sure how long it will be before other industries catch on for there conferences. The Blogworld conference producers actively told people to use the twitter tag #bwe08 (BlogWorldExpo 2008) included in the 140 character tweets allowed. [Read more...]
