Do the little things to make your event greener
Want to create a more sustainable event? Try working towards a green event or green meeting? You need much more than just additional recycling bins throughout the conference rooms. Here are a few ideas on how to make “greenify” your next meeting:
- Send out email invitations instead of printed ones
- Provide marketing materials and event information online and have fewer print outs onsite
- Have a badge and lanyard collection bin on the last day of the event
- Go for water stations in jugs rather than cases and cases of bottled water (look how Oracle is setting the Green standard)
- Have meals planned using local, seasonal produce
- Use recycled/biodegradable paper plates, napkins, cups and utensils
- Offer plated entrees instead of a buffet (less food wasted)
- Make sure energy for lights and a/c is turned off when room isn’t in use
