Who will be the Godfather of Web Video?

The gist of this article was big funded, big studio backed web video is not working. As I through the article only one of these companies is making any money. That one is obviously the community driven one. The landscape has changed. Will Ferrells Funny or Die had one big hit but people just don’t return. For staying power you need to build a community around your videos. Like the only site that is making any money. They serve a niche. Collegehumor which goes after college kids. Their sponsors are Trojan and Ford. I wish we could hear more about the companies that are succeeding.
These companies dont get it yet. But they will…eventually
My bet is on Tim Street or Justin Kownacki.
In other advertising news I watched the AMC channels show Mad Men about 1960s Manhattan Advertising agency. It is a really fun show and if you haven’t seen it check it out its on Sunday nights. Yet we Tivo or record it so we can watch it at our lesiusre and skip through the ads. BUT I watched the ads for Man Men. Why? Because they used little quotes or information in Man men branded letters before each. Before the Heinken commercial came on a Man Men colorsed slide (was it starting now? Shall I stop FF the tivo?) which had a quote.

Then the Heinekin commercial came on which I watched. Same for BMW etc…… It was a clever idea for a show about Ad Men which made me watch commercials.
I wonder is Don Draper came up with it?
