Where would you use this Smart Surface Table?
I was forwarded this video about Microsofts tabletop technology by Rob Balmer of the Doubletree Hotel San Jose and I wondered how you might use it at an event. Of course the video shows the different ways business could use it but what about something interactive for an event. They say it will eventually have smart surfaces everywhere which really bends the imagination. Think about walls, tables and counters. I wonder what the rental prices will be for these tables?
One thing is for sure the future looks like fun.
How would you use it?

Getting the Attention of your Meetings Attendees
Image via Wikipedia
In 1914 Ernest Shackleton placed the following ad in a London newspaper seeking recruits for his imperial trans-antarctic expedition:
“MEN WANTED FOR HAZARDOUS JOURNEY. SMALL WAGES, BITTER COLD, LONG MONTHS OF COMPLETE DARKNESS, CONSTANT DANGER, SAFE RETURN DOUBTFUL. HONOR AND RECOGNITION IN CASE OF SUCCESS.”
Sounds like a great job huh? But thousands of people answered this ad. Why because it has the makings of a great story. One people want to be part of. It breathes excitement and has all the elements of a great fantasy story:
Think about the message- Adventure!
The challenge- Men wanted!
The conflict- hazardous journey- darkness, danger, safe return doubtful.
Great possible happy ending- Honor and recognition in case of success!
So Shackleton (or his marketing team
) made a horrible cold journey that you might die on sound like a terrific appealing adventure!
Think about how you can make your next sales meeting or product launch be an adventure for your attendees. It does not have to be expensive just think about the story you are presenting to them!
