What Makes an Entertaining Story?

I watched the TV show Heroes this morning as I started the day and after the show was over which was on Hulu.com, I saw this clip about how they casted and how it changed the series. What I found interesting is how everything can be changed in a story by beng able to take input from things outside your circle. Many brainstorming sessions for corporate events are done by the same people the same way. “If it aint broke don’t fix it” is the usual thought process. But a successful show like Heroes makes an interesting story for its audience, because they are basically open to all new ideas on how the story will unfold. I love having brainstorming sessions with interesting people out of the circle who are not afraid to throw ideas out there! Listen to how the character Mohinder Suresh played by Sendhil Ramamurthy evolved the Heroes story, when it started at casting and how they pulled a whole new story line in for the show.

Hulu.com or Comcast?

Last December I posted about Hulu.com and thats when I had a Beta invite to test it out. (how I got that I am not sure) But after paying my cable bill which topped $200 last month I am feeling a little ripped off. Well in all fairness I couldn’t have watched Hulu at all without the cable that comcast provides. But Hulu.com which is now open to the public is very cool way to watch all your favorite shows and some movies.

You can watch top movies and TV shows all for free. You do have to put up with a few commercials but I am thinking in the next year or so we will go without cable. Just waiting for my friend and technical guru Casey Hiester to figure out how they will Mac their house then we will mac ours up. More details coming…..

If you haven’t checked out Hulu.com Now is a good time. Stuck in your hotel room? Pay the fee for the Internet in your room and then log on to Hulu.com and watch a movie. next I will have to figure out how to connect my computer to my Plasma TV.

Happy content watching.

It is getting blurry in here. I was selected to be a Beta tester for Hulu.com which I have been enjoying immensely. It is pretty interesting that my Comcast Cable bill is pretty expensive yet I can get programming from across all genres and content types including hit shows, movies, clips and more for free on Hulu.com.

I remember reading Paul Colligans year of living digitally in the beginning of this year and I even commented on how his family might feel without cable TV. But Paul was right, this is pretty cool and by the looks of it much cheaper. My next plan is to buy a mac mini and plug it into my plasma and home entertainment center. Maybe unload that cable bill.

Hulu is pretty cool offering current primetime shows like The Office, Prison Break, Bionic Woman, House and Bones, and episodes from TV classics like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Miami Vice, Arrested Development and more. They also partnered with premier content owners like E! Entertainment, FUEL TV and SciFi Network and USA Networks to add to their collection
of programming.

It even gives you the option of embedding or sharing the shows. Here is a little Arrested Development clip. Sign up and hopefully get a Beta test soon. But be careful its hard to get anything done with all this programming now in my office. (I hope the boss isn’t reading this.)

Have you tried Hulu? If so what do you think? Do you mind the short commercials & sponsorships?
