Apple Pulls Out Of MacWorld

So every conversation I have about meetings and events these days always turns to next year. Basically, that we all will have no events to work on. Or just really scaled back shows. Working on several proposals for clients and we joke in jest more than we usually do that this proposal will look very much different when we get onsite to produce the meeting or conference. (That is if it happens at all)
Several of my friends work on a huge Cisco show which usually gives them 6 months of work. It was cancelled.
So this morning I had just finished signing up for this years MacWorld in San Francisco – literally 2 minutes later I saw an article on SFgate.com saying Apple is pulling out of MacWorld after this year and Steve Jobs wont be presenting this year. Which is always an exciting highlight for MacHeads. His presentations are talked about whenever you read a Duarte, Garr, Kawasaki talking about how to give a great speech. Steve Jobs at the Whiteboard
I caught this post of Steve Jobs on the Presentation Zens blog this morning. As Garr said it is interesting on how Steve talks about the market, competition, sales, challenges and solutions. Engaging the audience with the questions “Who is our target customer? Why are they selecting our product over the competition’s? What distribution channels are we going to use?” It is great to see how Steve has evolved his presentations. Its also pretty fun to watch. Also gives us some inspiration that even if something does not work out as expected (like the company he is talking about) you still can go on to build great things. Be Memorable
I got this from a really cool blog called Presentation Zen. It is a Youtube video of Carmine Gallo on learning from Steve Jobs.
One thing I tell clients over and over again: You are spending money to get this audience in that venue so why not give them a memorable production to leave with. This video shows you some simple steps to add to your speech.
Best Presentations learn from them
I saw another great post on Chris Brogans blog about the best presentations. He is off to a Podcamp conference in Pittsburgh and he wanted to get some great presentations together. As he is a big social network & community guy he has a lot of people to draw from. I dont know him but follow him on Twitter and his Blog.
I chimed in his comment section with my favorite presentation which if you have read this blog for a while you know is Majora Carter Ted Speech. She is so passionite and is it bad I say so so attractive. I mean she is easy on the eye but better yet the content is presented so fantastically. I want to present like her.
I just did a presentation for Bayer event. Honestly I sucked ass. But I learned a ton. What I understand all these people below are seasoned speakers except Neil Gorman -I think this was his first time.
Since we do production for events and meetings I think our readers could get some benefit looking at these presentations.
