Video: “A call to action!” by Johnny Koeller

So I’m trying again to explain the importance of the video component for corporate meetings to a new client, and they ask why there even needs to be video at meetings anymore. For me there are four key reasons to use video. To “Inspire”, “Motivate”, “Educate” and “Entertain”. Let’s throw out “Entertain” right away. This might have been an acceptable way to spend shareholder money in the 90s but not anymore. The other three however can have a lasting effect on your people and your bottom line. Over the next few weeks I’d like to share my ideas, maybe even so far as to call them philosophies, about the way I use video to enhance information retention.     -Johnny

  • Awesome!
So often we forget that multimedia (when done right) has the power to invoke powerful emotions. And I think most would agree that it’s probably a lot more emotion and a lot less logic that inspires humans to cure disease or invent the PC.
Video has such practical applications and is beautifully simple. for instance, while having dinner a friend and I discussed how we’d love to get the attention of a celebrity phenom for our keynote speaker. So, we grabbed my silly Blackberry and recorded a ten second video enticing him to speak at our conference. So simple and fun to do, but miles more effective at capturing the attention of a person like this.
